Hitesh Oberoi will step down as managing director and chief executive of Info Edge, the owner of Naukri.com and 99acres, at the close of business on 2 December 2026, and founder Sanjeev Bikhchandani will take over as executive vice chairman, managing director and group CEO from 3 December, the company announced on 28 October 2026.

Oberoi will stay on the board as a non-executive, non-independent director, subject to shareholder approval, BestMediaInfo and Inc42 reported. Bikhchandani's term runs to 26 April 2031, also subject to shareholder approval.

Why Oberoi is leaving

Oberoi joined Info Edge in 2000 as chief operating officer and spent nearly 27 years in executive roles, more than 16 of them as CEO. He said he wants more time for education, entrepreneurship, investing and philanthropy, and that he "had wanted to see a few things through before stepping back", BestMediaInfo reported. Among them, he listed Naukri's AI and data strategy, 99acres reaching cash generation, and profitability at Jeevansathi and Aisle.

Bikhchandani said his first priority would be to give internal people the chance to grow, and that the new leadership structure had not been decided, Inc42 reported.

A strong quarter on the way out

Info Edge reported the same day that consolidated net profit for the September quarter rose 87% to ₹649.8 crore from ₹347.5 crore, helped by other income that jumped to ₹428.4 crore, according to Inc42. Revenue from operations rose 12.2% to ₹903.9 crore.

  • Naukri (recruitment): revenue up 13.3% to ₹632.3 crore; billings up 12.6% to ₹613.8 crore.
  • 99acres (real estate): revenue up 16.7% to ₹134.3 crore; its loss before tax narrowed to ₹1.6 crore from ₹23.4 crore.
  • Dividend: an interim dividend of ₹3 a share, record date 6 November.

Oberoi said the company was ready for the handover, pointing to Naukri's AI and data products, which Info Edge says now run at about ₹240 crore a year.
