Jailer 2 Grosses ₹477.75 Crore Worldwide in Five Days as Monday Holds at ₹42 Crore

Rajinikanth's sequel has earned ₹242.25 crore net in India and ₹194 crore overseas since its 15 October release, putting the ₹500 crore worldwide mark within reach in its first week.

Why it mattersA strong weekday hold for a Tamil-led release signals that south Indian event films still drive the biggest theatrical paydays, even as Hindi screens stay limited by a windowing dispute.

Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 grossed ₹477.75 crore worldwide in its first five days, after adding ₹42.35 crore net in India on Monday, 19 October 2026, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. Its India net total stands at ₹242.25 crore.

The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, opened on Thursday, 15 October. Monday's collection was 24.2% lower than Sunday's ₹55.85 crore, a modest drop for a first working day after a big opening weekend.

Day-by-day in India

Sacnilk's India net figures for the first five days:

  • Day 1 (15 October): ₹59.70 crore
  • Day 2 (16 October): ₹37.10 crore
  • Day 3 (17 October): ₹47.25 crore
  • Day 4 (18 October): ₹55.85 crore
  • Day 5 (19 October): ₹42.35 crore

India gross is ₹283.75 crore and overseas gross ₹194 crore, the tracker said. About 1.59 crore tickets were sold in India in five days.

Tamil leads, Hindi lags

Tamil accounts for ₹175.10 crore of the India net, followed by Telugu at ₹44.90 crore, Hindi at ₹20 crore and Kannada at ₹2.25 crore, per Sacnilk. Monday occupancy was about 70% for Tamil shows but only 19% for Hindi.

The Hindi release has been hit by a dispute with multiplex chains, which reportedly declined to screen the dubbed version because producer Sun Pictures chose a streaming window shorter than four weeks, Storyboard18 reported. Exhibitors usually insist on an eight-week gap between theatrical release and streaming.

Where it ranks

By its third day, Jailer 2 had already passed the reported worldwide totals of Kabali and Enthiran, Storyboard18 said. Monday's gross of more than ₹45 crore was the biggest first Monday for a Tamil film, The Week reported.

The film still trails Rajinikanth's biggest hits, including the first Jailer (2023), whose reported worldwide gross ranges from ₹605 crore to ₹630 crore. It needs about ₹22 crore more to reach ₹500 crore worldwide.

The run adds to a strong October at the box office, alongside Drishyam 3's third-weekend jump. That film crossed ₹400 crore worldwide in eight days.

Box office figures are trade estimates compiled from several sources and may differ from producers' numbers.
