Amazon Online India Leads Digital Ad Spend in 2024; Google Falls to Ninth: TAM Report

In 2024, Amazon Online India emerged as the top digital advertiser, while Google experienced a significant drop to the ninth position, according to the latest TAM AdEx report. The report highlights a 7% increase in digital ad impressions compared to 2023, marking a 12.7-fold surge since 2020.

Top Advertisers: Amazon Online India maintained its leading position in digital advertising for 2024. Google, previously ranked fourth in 2023, descended to the ninth spot. The top ten advertisers collectively contributed to 14% of total digital ad impressions.

Leading Sectors: The Services sector dominated with a 49% share of ad impressions. Personal Healthcare and Telecom Products entered the top ten sectors, securing the eighth and ninth positions, respectively. The top two sectors combined accounted for over 55% of digital ad impressions.

Prominent Categories: E-commerce services led the categories with a 12% share of ad impressions. Cellular Phones—Smart Phones was a new entrant among the top categories in 2024. Collectively, the top ten categories comprised 45% of ad impressions.

Advertising Methods: Programmatic advertising dominated the digital landscape, accounting for 88% of total ad impressions. Single Image Ads were the most prevalent, capturing 55% of ad impressions, followed by Video Ads at 23%.

The 2024 digital advertising landscape showcased Amazon Online India’s dominance and a notable shift in Google’s advertising strategy.
