PM Modi Encourages Creators to Boost Creativity through WAVES Challenges

In the 114th edition of his radio show Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called upon Indian creators to actively participate in the 25 ‘Create in India’ challenges, which are part of the upcoming WAVES media conference. This initiative, organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), aims to foster creativity and innovation across various emerging sectors, including gaming, filmmaking, and animation.

PM Modi emphasized the evolving job landscape and highlighted the vast opportunities in creative industries. He stressed the need for Indian talent to leverage the ‘Create in India’ challenges as a platform to showcase their skills, particularly in areas like gaming, film, and digital media production. “The nature of jobs is changing, and if you perform well in any of these creative fields, your talent will find a big platform,” he remarked.

The 25 ‘Create in India’ challenges will lead up to the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), scheduled to be held from February 5-9, 2025, in New Delhi. This summit will focus on accelerating the growth of India’s media and entertainment industry, supporting creative professionals, and boosting the country’s creator economy.

In August 2023, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, launched the first season of the ‘Create in India Challenge’. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Design in India, Design for the World,” aiming to position India as a global leader in creativity and design.

The Prime Minister urged creators to participate by visiting the official WAVES website, wavesindia.org, and contribute to this national initiative. These challenges will span various fields such as music, education, and anti-piracy, offering creators a significant opportunity to contribute to India’s growing creative economy.
