The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has announced a significant service upgrade on its e-Shivneri buses that operate between Mumbai and Pune. Under the newly launched “Shivneri Sundari” initiative, MSRTC will appoint trained hostesses to enhance passenger comfort and provide high-quality assistance during the journey.
According to MSRTC, the “Shivneri Sundari” service is designed to replicate in-flight hospitality, offering passengers a premium experience at no additional cost. Hostesses will assist passengers throughout the journey, ensuring their needs are met, similar to the services provided on flights.
Shinde Sena MLA Bharat Gogawale introduced the initiative during the 304th MSRTC Corporation meeting, while Sanjay Shirsat, another Shinde Sena MLA, defended the move against opposition criticism. Shirsat emphasized the employment opportunities for women and the MSRTC’s commitment to improving bus services by investing in new buses.
On the other hand, the initiative has faced criticism from the opposition. Shiv Sena UBT spokesperson Anand Dubey questioned the priority of the project, suggesting that improving basic services such as bus maintenance and punctuality should take precedence over enhancing hospitality.
