Why it mattersThe final anchor list shows which institutions are backing India's largest IPO, the first hard signal for retail investors before bidding opens on 21 October.

Jio Platforms raised ₹8,109.85 crore from 212 anchor investors on Monday, 19 October 2026, allotting about 7.25 crore shares at ₹1,119 each, the top of its price band, according to its filing with the stock exchanges, Business Today and Inc42 reported. The anchor round drew bids of more than ₹2.5 lakh crore, over 30 times the shares on offer.
India's largest initial public offering opens to the public on Wednesday, 21 October, after Tuesday's market holiday.
Who got shares
Domestic mutual funds took the biggest slice: 25 fund houses, through 95 schemes, received about 2.48 crore shares, more than a third of the anchor book. They include SBI, HDFC, ICICI Prudential, Aditya Birla Sun Life, Kotak Mahindra, Nippon India, Axis and Franklin Templeton.
Insurers and pension funds received about 97 lakh shares, or 13.4% of the round, according to Inc42. LIC was the largest single allottee, with shares worth about ₹500 crore. HDFC Life, SBI Life and ICICI Prudential Life, and pension funds linked to HDFC, SBI, ICICI and UTI, also received shares.
Foreign investors in the book include the Government of Singapore and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Norway's Norges Bank Investment Management, BlackRock Global Funds, Fidelity, JPMorgan, Allianz Global Investors, Schroders and T. Rowe Price, according to Business Today. Several of these were reported last week to be seeking anchor slots.
Why the anchor book matters
Anchor investors buy before an IPO opens and cannot sell straight away: under SEBI rules, half of their shares are locked in for 30 days and the rest for 90 days. Strong anchor demand is read as a sign of institutional confidence before retail and other investors bid. In the unofficial grey market, Jio shares were quoted at about ₹250 to ₹260 above the issue price on 19 and 20 October, roughly 22% to 23% above the top of the band, though such premiums are not a reliable guide to listing prices.
The issue
The all-fresh issue of up to 27 crore shares, priced at ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 each, would raise about ₹30,213 crore at the top of the band. Bidding runs from Wednesday, 21 October, to Friday, 23 October, and the shares are expected to list on NSE and BSE on Wednesday, 28 October. Most of the money will go towards repaying borrowings of Reliance Jio Infocomm. Read our complete guide to the Jio Platforms IPO for lot sizes, quotas and how to apply.
