Jio Platforms wants a bigger share of India's digital advertising market, and plans to win it by letting brands target whole households across phones and connected TVs. The ambition is set out in the red herring prospectus for its ₹30,213 crore IPO, dated 14 October 2026, BestMediaInfo reported.

How JioAds works

The platform, JioAds, combines data from Jio's connectivity network, its set-top boxes and its digital services. According to the filing, it builds household targeting by combining which devices are present in a home with observed viewing and usage behaviour, and offers advertisers deterministic audience groups and AI-assisted targeting.

Ads can run across Jio's own properties, including JioTV, JioTV+ and the JioTeleOS television operating system, and affiliated ones such as JioHotstar and JioMart, in video, display, audio and social formats. Brands and agencies can buy managed or self-service campaigns. Customers named in the filing include Truecaller, Arvind, Prachar Communications and Dentsu.

Scale, and an awkward rivalry

Jio had 533.3 million connectivity customers on 30 June 2026, including 284.9 million on 5G. The prospectus cites an Analysys Mason estimate that India's digital ad market will double from ₹80,900 crore in FY26 to about ₹1.6 lakh crore by FY31, a 15% annual growth rate.

The filing names Google, including YouTube, and Meta, including Instagram, as key players in that market, alongside Amazon, Flipkart and JioHotstar. Both Google and Meta are also Jio investors: a Meta affiliate holds 9.98% of Jio Platforms and Google 7.73%, while Reliance Industries controls the company with 66.43% before the issue.

The IPO opens on 21 October and closes on 23 October, with a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 a share.
