Indian tech companies raised .3 billion between 1 January and 21 September 2026, up 7% from .7 billion a year earlier, even as the number of funding rounds fell 38% to 1,134, according to Tracxn’s India Tech nine-month report, MediaBrief reported.
The gap between rising money and falling deals reflects a market concentrating on larger, later bets. Eighteen rounds of million or more drove much of the total, led by data-centre operator Nxtra’s billion private-equity round, AI-infrastructure company Neysa’s million Series B and CRED’s million Series H.

Acquisitions fell 31% to 91; the largest was L’Oréal’s million purchase of Innovist. Companies are also reaching exits faster: the average time from first funding to IPO fell to 8.5 years from 13.7 years.
The nine-month total marks a recovery from the start of the year, when first-quarter startup funding fell 26% year on year.
