Dish TV, ARC Launch E-Waste Drive to Educate Youth on Sustainability

In a push toward environmental sustainability, Dish TV India has partnered with ARC, an educational social impact startup, to address the rising e-waste crisis in India. This collaboration aims to spread awareness among young students and communities about responsible e-waste management and the importance of sustainable practices.

The partnership kicked off with an e-waste awareness drive at Delhi Public School (DPS) in Greater Faridabad, engaging over 700 students, teachers, and school staff. The event focused on teaching students about the environmental impacts of e-waste and promoting responsible disposal methods for electronics. Through interactive workshops and activities, students explored sustainable solutions and learned ways to make eco-conscious choices.

To make the campaign relatable and fun, the “Diwali Defenders” comic was introduced. Featuring young superheroes known as the E-waste Warriors, the comic promotes a “waste-free Diwali” and encourages students to collect e-waste from home and bring it to school for responsible disposal. This approach not only educates but also empowers students to take active roles in environmental stewardship.

Manoj Dobhal, CEO of Dish TV India, highlighted the broader goal of the initiative: “This initiative empowers students to become active stewards of the environment, transforming our mission into a movement for a cleaner, greener planet.”

ARC co-founders Ritu Malhotra and Anit Gupta underscored the power of education in driving change: “By educating children on e-waste, we’re creating proactive change-makers. Our partnership with Dish TV, especially through campaigns like Diwali Defenders, is inspiring students to lead change in their communities.”

Building on this initial success, Dish TV and ARC plan to expand the initiative to more schools across India, creating a network of young advocates committed to long-term sustainability and environmental awareness.
