The second edition of the Global AI Conclave, held in Bengaluru, brought together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss the real-world impact of artificial intelligence (AI). With a central theme, “From Hype to Impact,” the event explored AI’s potential to reshape industries, governance, and society at large. As India leads the charge in AI innovation, the conclave spotlighted the nation’s commitment to utilizing AI for transformative change.

Nalin Mehta, Managing Director of Moneycontrol, opened the event with a powerful message about India’s ambition. He stated, “India is at the forefront of an AI-powered transformation, with ₹10,300 crores committed to the India AI mission. It’s time to move beyond the hype and deliver real-world impact.” This commitment reflects the government’s strategy to integrate AI into key sectors to drive national growth and technological leadership.

Intel India’s Santhosh Viswanathan added, “This is an extraordinary moment for India to lead, fueled by abundant data, scalable solutions, and frugal innovation,” acknowledging the country’s growing influence in the AI space.

Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar highlighted AI’s role in enhancing Digital Public Infrastructure, with key government initiatives like UPI paving the way for more efficient citizen services. He emphasized the vision of the Prime Minister to push AI for governance, focusing on improving decision-making and public service delivery.

Hemant Taneja, CEO of General Catalyst, discussed India’s leadership in AI across various sectors, including defense and healthcare. He praised India’s infrastructure developments like UPI, which have positioned the nation to take a leadership role globally. His words reflected the growing momentum of India’s startup ecosystem, especially in the quick commerce sector, powered by AI.

The conclave also showcased the healthcare transformation driven by AI, with experts like Dr. H. Sudarshan Ballal of Manipal Hospitals and Dr. Geetha Manjunath of Niramai discussing how AI is reshaping diagnostics and healthcare delivery.

AI’s role in urban management was discussed by M.N. Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Bengaluru Traffic Police, who explained how AI-powered traffic systems are already reducing travel times by 22%, contributing to more efficient urban mobility.

Karnataka’s pivotal role in driving technological innovation was underscored by Dr. M.B. Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Commerce and Industries. He highlighted the state’s dominance in advanced technologies like machine learning, robotics, and quantum computing, positioning Bengaluru as a vibrant innovation hub. Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development, shared that the state’s upcoming industrial policy, to be launched during the 2025 Global Investors Meet, will focus on attracting ₹7 lakh crore investments and creating 25 lakh jobs, with a special focus on sustainable growth and women’s employment.

The conclave’s discussions reaffirmed India’s position as a global leader in AI, emphasizing inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainability. With AI continuing to evolve, India’s investments in digital infrastructure, AI-powered governance, and sectoral advancements are setting the stage for a more connected, efficient, and impactful future.
