Dharma Productions announced yesterday that it will forgo pre-release screenings for its upcoming films, citing this decision as a “necessary step” to enhance the excitement surrounding the movie-watching experience. The announcement was made by producer Karan Johar and Dharma Productions CEO Apoorva Mehta, as reported by PTI.
“After much deliberation, we’ve unanimously decided to forgo pre-release screenings for our upcoming films. This decision has been difficult to make; however, we believe it’s essential for ensuring that every viewer, including our friends in the media, witnesses our stories as they were meant to be experienced,” the official statement read. The production house emphasized that this approach aims to maintain a high level of excitement for audiences.
While pre-release screenings will be eliminated, Dharma Productions confirmed that it will still host press screenings in the “first half of the release day” for each film. “We warmly welcome all media personnel to join us at these screenings, where you will be the first to witness our latest offerings. We value the relationships built with each one of you over the years and look forward to your continued cooperation,” the statement added.
The next film from Dharma Productions is ‘Jigra,’ featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, directed by Vasan Bala. The highly anticipated film is set to release in theaters this coming Friday.
