WAVES Film Bazaar Closes IFFI 2025 with ₹1050 Cr in Business Leads

WAVES Film Bazaar 2025, held alongside the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, concluded successfully, reaffirming India’s rising global position as a hub for film production, collaboration, and market expansion. The five-day market facilitated business discussions and negotiations worth over ₹1050 crore, marking a significant increase in global deal-making capacity for Indian content.

This year’s Bazaar edition witnessed exceptional international participation, with over 2,500 delegates from more than 40 countries. The event established itself as one of the largest international gatherings at a South Asian film market.

The market saw massive engagement from global buyers and content creators, highlighting strong international interest in India’s content ecosystem:

  • Total Projects Showcased: 320 projects were showcased across the Viewing Room, Co-Production Market, Screenwriters’ Lab, and Market Screenings, representing over 15 countries.
  • Buyer Engagement: Over 1,200 one-to-one closed-door business meetings were held with over 220 buyers from around the world.

    • ₹200 crore+ valuation from projects discussed in open meetings.
    • ₹100 crore in MoUs signed on the sidelines of the event.

A significant development was the signing of four key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with media and entertainment sector firms based in Australia, greatly enhancing bilateral cooperation across education, distribution, talent development, and festival exchanges.

  • Key MoUs: These agreements were signed between IFFI, NFDC and the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne; and Deakin University, Film and Television Institute of India (FTII, Pune), and the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT Mumbai).
  • Co-Production Deal: PTC Punjabi partnered with Australian production company Temple to co-present three Punjabi language feature films under the Australia-India co-production treaty, with an estimated project valuation of over $7 million.

WAVES Film Bazaar 2025 also served as a catalyst for deeper international cooperation, hosting high-level government-to-government (G2G) and commission-to-commission meetings with delegations from South Africa, Spain, Finland, Russia, UK, and New Zealand.
