Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that preparations for the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) are in the final stages, with completion slated for November 15, just days ahead of the festival’s opening on November 20.
Scheduled to run from November 20 to November 28, IFFI 2024 will be hosted in Panaji, the capital of Goa, and is expected to draw filmmakers, industry experts, and cinema enthusiasts from around the globe, as reported by PTI.
In a press statement, CM Sawant expressed confidence in the state’s readiness to provide a seamless and high-quality experience for festival-goers. “We will be ready to host the festival by November 15. I will chair a meeting on November 18 to review the preparations,” he stated, highlighting the government’s proactive stance in making any final adjustments ahead of the event.
This year’s festival marks the 55th edition of IFFI, renowned for its rich showcase of Indian and international films across various genres, including feature films, documentaries, and shorts. IFFI 2024 is expected to feature a diverse lineup, including screenings, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and masterclasses. In light of the rise of OTT platforms and digital content, the festival may also incorporate discussions on the convergence of digital and traditional filmmaking.
Goa’s infrastructure is being enhanced, particularly the Inox theatre complex in Panaji, to ensure an elevated experience for attendees. Furthermore, Goa Tourism, in partnership with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), is arranging logistical support to accommodate the expected influx of participants and visitors. Given the renewed interest in physical film festivals post-pandemic, IFFI 2024 is poised to attract a significant audience.
