Warsi Brothers to Dazzle Thiruvananthapuram with Sufi Qawwali Performances from November 4

The renowned Rampur Warsi Brothers are set to enchant the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram with their soulful Sufi Qawwali music from November 4 to 7. Under the leadership of distinguished artist Mohammad Khan Warsi, this musical event will feature celebrated Qawwali performers, including Waris Nawaz, Arshad, Ikhlas Husain, Mohammad Naqvi, Mohammad Faiz, and Rahat Husain.

Organized by the Kerala chapter of SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), this series of performances aims to foster an appreciation for Indian classical art forms among students. The events will take place across various school and college campuses, providing students with an opportunity to delve into the rich tradition of Qawwali music.

The performances are scheduled as follows:

  • November 4: College of Architecture, Vilappilsala at 3:30 PM
  • November 5: Arya Central School, Pattom at 10:30 AM
  • November 5: NIIST-CSIR, Pappanamcode at 3:30 PM
  • November 5: RGCB, Poojappura at 6:00 PM
  • November 6: Swathi Thirunal Government Music College, Thycaud at 2:00 PM
  • November 6: Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiyamala at 6:00 PM
  • November 7: Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pangode at 8:30 AM

SPIC MACAY State Coordinator Velayudhakurup highlighted the significance of the event, stating, “This initiative is designed to introduce Kerala students to the beauty of Qawwali music, offering them a platform to understand and appreciate this rich and soulful art form.”

This series promises a unique opportunity for students and the general public to immerse themselves in the mesmerizing world of Sufi Qawwali, celebrating the profound cultural heritage of this traditional music form.
