Superstar Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award for his role in Jawan, while Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal was named Best Picture at the 2024 IIFA Awards held in Abu Dhabi. The event, hosted by Khan alongside actor Vicky Kaushal and filmmaker Karan Johar, was filled with memorable moments and star-studded performances.
Khan received his award from Dil Se director Mani Ratnam and music maestro A.R. Rahman, touching Ratnam’s feet as a gesture of respect before accepting the trophy. Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, with Shah Rukh gallantly holding her saree pallu to ensure it didn’t touch the ground as she left the stage.
The evening also saw Vidhu Vinod Chopra winning Best Director for 12th Fail. Animal won several other awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Anil Kapoor and Best Negative Role for Bobby Deol, as well as multiple music awards for composers and playback singers. Veteran actress Hema Malini was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema award, escorted to the stage by Shah Rukh Khan.
The night was further elevated by live performances, including dance numbers by Prabhudeva, Shahid Kapoor, and Rekha, as well as music performances by Karan Aujla and Honey Singh.
