Waack Girls follows six young women in Kolkata who form a dance troupe under the same name. Despite the rarity of waacking in their city, the group embraces the style, using it as a medium to express their individuality and unity. Taraporevala was inspired to create the series after witnessing a waacking performance by Mekhola Bose, who also stars in the show. She remarked, “This is a story that is unconventional and fun, and I am beyond excited to present Waack Girls to the world,” capturing the energy and spirit of the series.
The nine-episode drama features Mekhola Bose, Anasua Chowdhury, Rytasha Rathore, Chrisann Pereira, Priyam Saha, Ruby Sah, and veterans like Barun Chanda and Lillete Dubey, with a posthumous performance by Nitesh Pandey. According to Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India, Waack Girls is a universal tale meant to inspire viewers, embodying the dreams and struggles of its diverse characters.
Produced by Matter Entertainment, Chalkboard Entertainment, and Jigri Dost Productions, Waack Girls will stream in Hindi with additional dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada to reach audiences across India.
