Meta has officially supercharged its AI-powered creator toolkit for Instagram and Facebook, specifically targeting India’s explosive regional creator economy. At the exclusive ‘House of Instagram’ event held in Mumbai, the tech giant unveiled advanced translation, dubbing, and lip-syncing capabilities for five new Indian languages, alongside the introduction of localized fonts.

In a major step toward hyper-localization, creators can now use Meta AI to translate their Reels into Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Marathi. This expansion joins the previously supported languages—English, Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese—bringing the total to nine major languages available for automatic dubbing.

The tool is designed to move beyond generic text-to-speech. It utilizes high-fidelity AI to preserve the creator’s original voice tone, pitch, and emotional nuance during translation. Furthermore, the optional AI-powered lip-sync feature digitally aligns the creator’s mouth movements with the newly dubbed audio, ensuring that the content looks as natural as if it were originally recorded in the target language.

Recognizing the visual diversity of Indian scripts, Meta has introduced native font support for Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts within the Instagram Edits tool. This allows creators to add authentic text and captions in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and Assamese.

The update is rolling out initially for Android users. Once available, the fonts will appear by default based on the device’s script settings or can be accessed via the ‘Text’ tool in the editing timeline. This feature eliminates the need for third-party apps, allowing creators to maintain a high-quality, culturally resonant aesthetic directly within the platform.

These updates follow a series of Meta AI enhancements released over the past month aimed at streamlining the creative process. Recent additions include:
