Lakmé Fashion Week X FDCI, one of India’s most iconic fashion events, celebrated its silver jubilee in grand style from March 26 to March 30, 2025, at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
The five-day extravaganza brought together the best of Indian fashion, beauty, and innovation, marking 25 years of redefining the fashion landscape.
The event kicked off with a spectacular opening show by renowned designer Anamika Khanna, who presented her collection titled Silver Collar. The collection celebrated bold and ambitious women, reflecting strength and individuality. Khanna partnered with Lakmé’s 9to5 Hya-Matte range for this showcase. She shared her excitement, saying, “Opening the show sets the tone and creates the first impression. This collection is a celebration of women who lead with confidence and inspire others.”
Lakmé Salon also introduced its Cut & Color Collection in collaboration with Satya Paul’s Alchemy collection. Vipul Chaturvedi, CEO of Lakmé Salon, described it as a vision of versatility that empowers individuals to transition effortlessly from work to play.
The highlight of the event was a tribute to Indian fashion’s evolution over the past 25 years. Over 30 celebrated designers showcased archival pieces from their collections, honoring the journey of Lakmé Fashion Week. Designers such as Manish Malhotra, Tarun Tahiliani, Falguni Shane Peacock, Anita Dongre, Rahul Mishra, and JJ Valaya revisited their iconic creations.
The gala also paid homage to late designer Rohit Bal with a standing ovation as footage from his final show played on LED screens. Bal’s legacy remains an integral part of Indian fashion history.
Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan graced the ramp during the gala night and reminisced about her journey with Lakmé Fashion Week. She said, “Whether it was walking the ramp when I was size zero or pregnant with Taimur, my heart has always been on stage. I am thrilled to embark on a new chapter with the Lakmé family.”
Kareena’s presence added star power to the event as she celebrated her long-standing association with Lakmé and Indian fashion.
Day 5 of the event highlighted emerging designers and student showcases. Pearl Academy presented First Cut, exploring emotional and societal shifts shaping today’s youth. Max Urban brought summer holiday vibes to life with collections inspired by Mediterranean aesthetics.
Actor Kalki Koechlin turned showstopper for Max Urban, donning a breezy summer dress that embodied freedom and confidence. She remarked that fashion today is about embracing one’s true self rather than unattainable aspirations.
