IndiGo Launches Mumbai-Amsterdam & Manchester Flights with Viral Social Media Campaign

IndiGo, India’s leading airline, is making a significant stride in its international expansion by launching new non-stop flights from Mumbai to Amsterdam and Manchester. These new long-haul routes, scheduled to commence on July 2, 2025, for Amsterdam and July 1, 2025, for Manchester, mark IndiGo’s strategic foray into the European market, utilizing leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

To celebrate this milestone and generate buzz, IndiGo has rolled out a digital-first brand campaign that has quickly gone viral on social media. The campaign was kicked off with a playful tweet from IndiGo’s official handle: “We’ll be in Manchester on 1st July. Anyone wants anything?” This lighthearted approach sparked immediate engagement from over 25 prominent brands, including Durex, Catch Masala, Taco Bell, Zepto, Tata Capital, and Airtel, who responded with witty and relevant requests.

The new thrice-weekly services aim to cater to the increasing demand for direct connectivity between India and Europe, enhancing accessibility for leisure, business, and educational travelers. IndiGo will be the first airline to offer non-stop connectivity between India and Northern UK with its Mumbai-Manchester route. Passengers on these new long-haul routes will also receive complimentary hot meals and beverages, a new offering for the budget airline.

Mr. Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating, “IndiGo’s long-haul foray marks a pivotal moment in our global expansion journey. We are immensely proud and excited to open the sale of our first long-haul services connecting Mumbai with Manchester and Amsterdam. These routes are not just about connecting destinations; they are about bridging economies, cultures, and communities, and propelling India’s ambition of transforming into a global aviation hub.”

This move aligns with IndiGo’s broader strategy to expand its international network and strengthen its global presence, as the airline also recently announced plans to launch flights to 10 new international destinations in the current financial year, including London, Copenhagen, and Athens. IndiGo aims to enhance its long-haul capabilities further with future deliveries of A321XLR and A350 aircraft from 2027 onwards.

The viral social media campaign has successfully generated significant attention and excitement for these new routes, effectively positioning IndiGo as a viable and engaging option for international travel to Europe.
