Flipkart Kicks Off the 11th Edition of The Big Billion Days

Flipkart has launched the 11th edition of its flagship event, The Big Billion Days (TBBD) 2024, on September 27, with early access starting a day earlier for VIP and Plus customers. The event has garnered tremendous engagement, with over 33 crore user visits recorded during Early Access and Day 1, showcasing the festive shopping enthusiasm across India.

Initial trends reveal a positive sentiment among shoppers, particularly in categories such as Mobiles, Electronics, Large Appliances, Fashion, Beauty, and Home products. Notable demand has emerged not just from major metropolitan areas like New Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, but also from smaller regions including Medinipur, Hisar, and Agartala.

Shoppers are actively looking to upgrade their lifestyles, with increased purchases in Ethnic Wear, Sports Footwear, and Formal Footwear noted during the early hours of the event.

Flipkart has enhanced user engagement through features like Brand Mall, FlipInTrends, and Spoyl, resulting in a tenfold increase in activity on the FlipInTrends platform. Gen Z consumers particularly favored trendy items such as baggy bottoms, retro runners, and co-ord sets.

Flipkart’s hypervalue platform, Shopsy, saw a 70% increase in customer visits and a 2.8X rise in transactions compared to pre-festive levels, with Lifestyle and Beauty categories performing exceptionally well.

Additionally, TBBD 2024 marked a significant milestone for app-driven features, such as Video Commerce and Live Commerce, which achieved a record viewership. Products featured during Live Commerce events experienced a 25X spike in purchases compared to the pre-festive period.

On the travel front, Cleartrip reported a 2.5X increase in users, with a notable uptick in air and hotel bookings, particularly to popular destinations like Goa and Nainital.

Electronics sales also witnessed a surge via Flipkart Minutes, with a substantial percentage of sales coming from this fast-delivery service, highlighting a new consumer trend for immediate electronics access.

The campaign also facilitated increased savings opportunities through SuperCoins and Flipkart Gift Cards, which saw a 5X surge in sales during early access. The use of Flipkart Pay Later options increased dramatically, highlighting the platform’s commitment to making e-commerce accessible.

Furthermore, Flipkart’s initiatives for sellers, particularly MSMEs, led to over 75% of transacting sellers experiencing significant order growth during the event.

Harsh Chaudhary, Vice President of Growth at Flipkart, emphasized the festival’s importance as more than just a shopping event. “It is an opportunity that fosters growth, innovation, and collaboration at a national scale,” he said, adding that TBBD 2024 aims to enhance digital engagement while supporting local businesses and artisans.

The 11th edition of TBBD demonstrates Flipkart’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and affordability, leveraging advanced technologies like Metaverse, GenAI, and AR/VR to create immersive shopping experiences for diverse customers across the country.
