Dentsu’s Carat India CEO Sanchayeeta Verma Steps Down

In a significant development within Dentsu India, Sanchayeeta Verma has stepped down from her role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Carat India, the media agency part of the Dentsu network. Her departure marks the end of her leadership tenure at the Bengaluru-based agency, which she joined in 2023.

Verma, a seasoned media veteran with a professional career spanning 27 years, brought extensive experience across advertising, media, and marketing to Carat India. Her expertise encompassed media planning, content, data, and technology, making her instrumental in driving the agency’s strategic direction and accelerating its growth since her appointment. During her time at the helm, she was also credited with playing a key role in boosting business development, enhancing vital client relationships, and mentoring the agency’s internal talent pool.

Prior to her role at Dentsu, Sanchayeeta Verma held various senior management positions at GroupM’s Mindshare and Wavemaker, demonstrating her deep understanding of the media landscape. Her earlier career also included key roles at prominent firms such as Lintas Media Group, JWT, and Kiwi TTK. Throughout her extensive career span, Verma has worked across a diverse range of industries, including FMCG, telecom, retail, e-commerce, finance, and lifestyle, servicing marquee brands like Google, ITC, Titan, Myntra, Nestlé, Tata Global Beverages, Wipro Consumer Care, Kellogg’s, Ford, ICICI, PepsiCo, Nike, and Castrol, among others.

While an official announcement from Dentsu India is still awaited, media reports have confirmed her exit. Verma’s departure comes at a time when Dentsu India itself has been in the news, recently confirming its role as a whistleblower in the Competition Commission of India (CCI)’s ongoing media cartelization probe. The impact of this recent internal move on Carat India’s operations and its strategic roadmap within the broader Dentsu network will be closely watched by the industry.

Sanchayeeta Verma has also been an active member of the advertising community, having served as the President of the Advertising Club, Bangalore during 2016-17, where she contributed significantly to various industry body activities. Her next professional move has not yet been announced.

The search for a new CEO for Carat India is expected to commence soon, as the agency looks to continue its growth trajectory and maintain its competitive edge in India’s dynamic media buying and advertising landscape.
