BIG FM and Adani Group’s ‘Story of Suraj’ Campaign Sets Records with Solar-Powered Broadcast

In a landmark move for sustainable media, BIG FM, in collaboration with the Adani Group, has launched a groundbreaking campaign titled ‘Story of Suraj,’ which has already earned recognition in both the Asia Book of Records and the India Book of Records. The initiative highlights the transformative power of solar energy through a 360-degree campaign that integrated radio, digital, and on-ground activations across 39 cities.

The campaign’s crowning achievement was the world’s first dual-city live radio broadcast powered entirely by solar energy. The studios in Delhi and Pune operated without any support from the grid or diesel generators, setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly broadcasting.

The initiative began with a nationwide “content roadblock,” ensuring that every BIG FM listener was introduced to the story of ‘Suraj Bhaiya.’ Over 80 radio jockeys from the network created more than 250 content pieces, reaching a staggering 2.91 crore listeners. This radio-based engagement was further amplified on digital platforms, generating over 21 million impressions and sparking emotional conversations about clean energy.

On-ground activations in cities like Delhi, Pune, Modhera, Indore, and Lucknow brought the campaign’s message to life. These events featured solar-powered studios, live music, and pledge walls, encouraging tangible action from the public. The ‘Solar Rooftop Studio Shift’ initiative also highlighted inspiring stories of individuals who have benefited from solar energy adoption.

A key part of the campaign was a live broadcast from Modhera, India’s first fully solar-powered village. This segment provided listeners with a real-world glimpse into a clean-energy future, showcasing the tangible impact of renewable energy at the grassroots level.
