Apple’s India Expansion: Four New Stores to Open, Hiring in Full Swing

Apple is set to significantly expand its retail presence in India with the opening of four new Apple Stores in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune. This move follows the success of its first two Indian stores, Apple BKC in Mumbai and Apple Saket in Delhi, which opened in 2023. The company has begun hiring for various roles across these new locations, signaling an imminent launch.

Apple’s decision to expand its retail footprint in India reflects its growing commitment to the country. CEO Tim Cook has consistently highlighted India’s importance as a market, particularly after achieving record iPhone sales in the region during the December quarter of 2024. India is the second-largest smartphone market globally and the third-largest for PCs and tablets, making it a crucial hub for Apple’s future growth.

Apple has listed over 20 job openings on its careers page for roles in India, with nearly half dedicated to retail positions. The company is seeking passionate and talented individuals for various roles, from customer service to store management, to create “amazing experiences” for its customers. John Taffe, an Apple Store leader, emphasized that opportunities are available for both experienced professionals and those looking to start a new career path.

The opening of these new stores will enhance Apple’s ability to provide a premium retail experience to Indian customers. Physical stores are crucial for Apple, as they allow customers to engage with products firsthand and build a community around the brand. Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail, noted that stores are “incredible places to experience the magic of Apple,” underscoring their importance in deepening customer connections.

Beyond retail expansion, Apple is also strengthening its manufacturing capabilities in India. The company is now producing the entire iPhone 16 lineup locally, from the entry-level iPhone 16e to the premium Pro and Pro Max models. This initiative aligns with Apple’s “Make in India” commitment, which began in 2017, and reflects its long-term strategy to increase local production.

Apple’s expansion in India marks a significant step in its global strategy, highlighting the country’s growing importance as a consumer market. With new stores and enhanced manufacturing capabilities, Apple is poised to deepen its connection with Indian customers and further establish itself as a leader in the region.
