Bharti Airtel, India’s second-largest telecom operator, has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of FY25, revealing a robust performance that exceeded analysts’ profit expectations, although the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) remained flat.
The company’s consolidated net profit for the quarter ending March 31, 2025, stood at ₹11,022 crore. While this represents a sequential decrease compared to the previous quarter’s ₹14,781.2 crore (which included an exceptional gain), it significantly surpassed market estimates. Analysts had projected a profit closer to ₹6,509 crore.
Revenue from operations saw a substantial year-on-year increase of 27.3% to ₹47,876 crore, driven by tariff hikes implemented in July 2024 and continued subscriber additions. The ARPU, a key metric for telecom companies, remained steady at ₹245, the same as in the previous quarter, but up from ₹209 in Q4 FY24.
The growth in revenue was further supported by a strong performance in the India mobile business, which saw a 20.6% year-on-year increase. The company also reported adding 6.6 million smartphone users during the quarter, with the smartphone base now constituting 77% of its overall mobile customer base in India.
For the entire financial year 2025, Airtel’s consolidated net profit saw a significant jump to ₹33,556 crore compared to ₹7,467 crore in FY24. The annual revenue from operations grew by 15.3% to ₹1,72,985.2 crore.
The board of directors has recommended a final dividend of ₹16 per fully paid-up equity share.
Gopal Vittal, Vice-Chairman and MD of Bharti Airtel, commented that the company ended the financial year on a strong note, with growth driven by premiumization and a focus on acquiring quality customers.
