Saurabh Dwivedi Resigns from Lallantop; Kuldeep Mishra Named New Editorial Head

Saurabh Dwivedi, the founding editor of The Lallantop and a prominent figure at India Today Hindi, has officially stepped down from India Today Group Digital. His departure marks the end of a transformative 12-year association, during which he reshaped digital Hindi journalism and built one of the country’s most successful news brands.

With Dwivedi moving on, the platform has announced a new leadership structure to ensure continuity. Kuldeep Mishra will now take complete charge of Lallantop’s editorial operations, while Rajat Sain will lead the production department. Notably, both Mishra and Sain have been core members of the team since the platform’s inception.

Saurabh Dwivedi joined the India Today Group as a Features Editor for aajtak.in and eventually became the face of The Lallantop. He is credited with creating a unique, conversational, and “raw” editorial voice that resonated deeply with the youth across the Hindi heartland.

Under his leadership, the platform moved beyond traditional news formats, gaining fame for its “Neta Nagri” show, extensive ground reports during elections, and sharp, long-form political interviews.

Dwivedi announced his exit via a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude for the identity and courage the platform provided him.

“I will introspect, take a leisure break and then talk about the resolve to move forward. You all have also taught me many things. Thank you,” Dwivedi wrote.

The news sparked widespread reactions. Senior journalist Rajdeep Sardesai praised Dwivedi’s contribution, calling The Lallantop a “real trendsetter” and noting that he would personally miss their collaboration on special segments.

The appointment of Kuldeep Mishra and Rajat Sain signals a strategy of internal growth for the India Today Group. As original members of the founding team, their leadership is expected to maintain the platform’s distinct flavor while exploring new digital frontiers.

While Dwivedi’s next move remains under wraps, his exit marks the conclusion of a significant era for Hindi digital media, leaving behind a platform that redefined how news is consumed in modern India.
