Pixelloid Celebrates Emmy Win for VFX in Disney’s ‘Shogun’

Hyderabad-based visual effects studio, Pixelloid Studios, is celebrating a significant achievement after Disney’s Shogun series won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. The studio played a pivotal role in the success of the series, contributing over 2,800 VFX shots with a dedicated team of 150 artists. This recognition marks a key milestone for the company, placing Indian VFX talent on the global stage.

Shogun set a record by winning 18 Emmys, making it the most awarded show in a season. The collaboration between Pixelloid and Shogun’s VFX Supervisor, Michael Cliett, who had previously worked with the studio on Indian films like Sri Rama Rajyam and Businessman in 2011, proved instrumental in tackling the complex visual effects for the series. Cliett praised the studio’s attention to detail and ability to deliver top-tier VFX work that elevated the show’s storytelling.

Raj Potula, Founder and VFX Studio Head at Pixelloid, expressed pride in the collaboration, stating that Cliett’s creative leadership pushed the team to achieve some of their best work. Co-founder Nayeem Akthar highlighted the significance of the Emmy win, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the studio’s artists.

Pixelloid, established in 2005, has built a reputation for delivering high-end VFX services, working on major international projects such as American Born Chinese and The 100, as well as regional blockbusters like Kalki 2898 AD.
