Vivo Expands Mid-Premium Portfolio with Launch of V60 Smartphones

Chinese smartphone giant Vivo has significantly bolstered its mid-premium segment in India with the official launch of the new V60 series. The V60, which will be available starting August 19, is priced between ₹36,999 and ₹45,999, directly succeeding the popular V50 model. This new lineup is a strategic move by Vivo, which, according to market research firm IDC, currently holds a leading 19% share in the Indian smartphone market. The V60 is designed to appeal to users who prioritize top-tier imaging capabilities and sleek design.

The V60 boasts several standout features that position it as a formidable contender in the mid-premium category. It is marketed as India’s slimmest smartphone with a 6500 mAh battery, a rare combination of a large power reserve and an elegant, ergonomic design. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and runs on FunTouchOS 15 based on Android 15. Vivo has committed to providing four years of major Android updates and six years of security patches, a strong promise of long-term software support.

A major highlight of the V60 series is its advanced camera system, which features a triple rear camera setup with ZEISS optics. This includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera with OIS, a 50MP telephoto lens with 10x telephoto stage portrait functionality, and an 8MP ultrawide-angle lens. The front camera also packs a powerful 50MP sensor, making the phone a “creative companion” for photography and videography. The camera software is enhanced with exclusive features like “India’s Wedding vLog mode” and “AI Four Season Portrait,” which are tailored for the Indian market.

The V60 will be manufactured at Vivo’s facility in Greater Noida and will be available in three colors: Auspicious Gold, Mist Gray, and Moonlit Blue. In addition to its powerful hardware and camera, the phone comes with an IP68 and IP69 rating for dust and water resistance and a quad-curved 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be available for purchase across major online platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, as well as offline retail stores, starting August 19.
