Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Ltd. (Star Health Insurance), India’s leading retail health insurer, has announced significant enhancements to its leadership team with the appointment of two key executives to its board.
Amitabh Jain, currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO), has been elevated to the position of Whole-time Director and designated as a Key Managerial Personnel. With over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, Mr. Jain joined Star Health in 2023 as COO. A founding member of ICICI Lombard, his expertise spans operational excellence and strategic growth. He holds an engineering degree, an MBA, and the CFA charter.
Adding further strength to the board, Himanshu Walia, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), has also been appointed as a Whole-time Director and designated as a Key Managerial Personnel. Mr. Walia brings over 22 years of experience within the insurance industry and has been with Star Health Insurance since 2007, serving as CMO. He has been instrumental in developing the company’s brand and market reach, having previously held leadership positions at ICICI Lombard and Tata AIG. Mr. Walia holds an MBA in Marketing.
The appointments of both Jain and Walia as Whole-time Directors will become effective upon approval from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
