Sony LIV is set to premiere its latest psychological thriller, ‘KanKhajura’, a gripping series that delves into the haunting power of memory and the corrosive effects of guilt. Adapted from the acclaimed Israeli series ‘Magpie’, ‘KanKhajura’ promises to be a dark and emotionally intense ride, exploring buried trauma and fractured relationships against the eerie backdrop of Goa. The series will begin streaming on May 30th.

‘KanKhajura’ revolves around two estranged brothers who are brought back together under unsettling circumstances. Their reunion triggers a series of events that blur the lines between their recollections and the present reality, suggesting that the past, particularly through memory, can become an inescapable trap. The narrative hinges on the weight of unspoken regret and the emotional scars that conceal deeper truths.

The series features a compelling ensemble cast including Mohit Raina, Roshan Mathew, and Sarah Jane Dias in pivotal roles. Roshan Mathew, who plays Ashu, described the series as having “emotional intensity and the stillness beneath the chaos,” highlighting the cracked relationships and how the characters confront their flaws. Sarah Jane Dias, portraying Nisha, emphasized the unsettling nature of the story and its exploration of guilt, family, and memory.

Directed by Chandan Arora and produced by Ajay Rai, ‘KanKhajura’ has been reimagined with an Indian sensibility by creators Adam Bizanski, Omri Shenhar, and Dana Eden, under license from yes Studios. The series aims to deliver a tale of fractured families, betrayal, and the fragile boundary between guilt and survival.
