In a significant acknowledgment of his leadership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his congratulations to India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma on his re-election as the President of the News Broadcasters and Digital Association (NBDA). Sharma was re-elected for the 2025–26 term at the association’s board meeting on September 19, 2025.
In a congratulatory letter, Prime Minister Modi lauded Sharma’s extensive contributions to Indian journalism over several decades. He expressed confidence in Sharma’s ability to lead the NBDA effectively, especially as the media industry undergoes rapid and profound transformation. “The Association will benefit from your decades-long experience in journalism, your deep understanding of various subjects, and your credibility,” PM Modi wrote, adding that Sharma’s guidance would be “particularly effective in the media and digital world, undergoing modern transformation.”
The Prime Minister also conveyed his belief that under Sharma’s guidance, the NBDA would “raise the standards of journalism to new heights” while continuing to serve the interests of society and the nation. He concluded the letter with well wishes for Sharma’s new term and future endeavors.
The NBDA, which represents India’s largest body of private news broadcasters and digital media entities, also announced other key appointments during the same board meeting. MV Shreyams Kumar, Managing Director of Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing, was elected as the Vice-President, and Anuradha Prasad Shukla, Chairperson and Managing Director of News24 Broadcast India, was appointed as the Honorary Treasurer.
