‘Peaky Blinders’ Revival: Two New Series Confirmed for BBC & Netflix

The iconic crime saga of the Shelby family is far from over. The BBC officially announced today, October 3, 2025, that its global hit drama, Peaky Blinders, will return with two brand-new series. These sequels, set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and stream worldwide on Netflix, will introduce audiences to a new generation of Shelbys leading the family into a fresh chapter.

The new narrative, once again masterfully created and written by Steven Knight, will begin in 1953. The setting is a post-war Birmingham that is urgently rising from the destruction of the Second World War. Against this backdrop of massive industrial and structural reconstruction, a fierce power struggle will erupt. The logline confirms that the race to control Birmingham’s rebuilding projects becomes a central, brutal contest, placing the Shelby family firmly back at the heart of danger and opportunity.

Each of the two new series will feature six one-hour episodes, promising the same intense, gritty drama fans have come to expect.

Creator Steven Knight expressed his excitement about the revival, stating, “I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again, it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.”

The production of both series will take place at the state-of-the-art Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham, reinforcing the show’s authentic connection to its home city.

The revival is a co-production between Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama, the team responsible for the original six seasons and the forthcoming Peaky Blinders film. Cillian Murphy, the original lead star, is confirmed to serve as an Executive Producer, alongside Steven Knight and other key figures from the BBC and Netflix.

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, noted the original show’s “game-changing” impact and celebrated its return to the Midlands, while Mona Qureshi from Netflix emphasized that global audiences are “ready to be captivated anew” by Knight’s unique storytelling.

The project has also received a significant boost from the region, supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Mayor Richard Parker highlighted the production’s dual benefit, noting its role in boosting Birmingham’s global recognition and tourism while creating valuable new job opportunities for local talent. This marks the first major project under the BBC’s new partnership with the WMCA and Create Central, specifically designed to expand production investment across the West Midlands creative sector.
