O Romeo Box Office Day 5: Shahid Kapoor’s Action-Thriller Crosses ₹40 Crore

The box office journey of O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, witnessed a steady rise on its first Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Directed by the master of gritty narratives, Vishal Bhardwaj, the film has officially crossed the ₹40 crore mark at the domestic box office. Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the movie is capitalising on strong word-of-mouth and the lack of major competition to maintain its momentum.

On its fifth day, O Romeo earned approximately ₹5.10 crore, showing a slight jump from its Monday collection of ₹4.75 crore. This “Tuesday turnaround” is a positive sign for the film’s longevity, especially after the Sunday dip caused by the high-voltage India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup clash.

The film’s performance is significant as it marks the fourth collaboration between Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj. In just five days, O Romeo has outperformed their previous 2017 collaboration, Rangoon, which had a lifetime collection of ₹39.80 crore.

While it has already overtaken Shahid’s recent solo hits like Deva and Phata Poster Nikla Hero, the film still has some ground to cover to reach the benchmarks set by their earlier cult classics:

  • Kaminey: ₹70.40 crore (Worldwide Gross)
  • Haider: ₹79.20 crore (Worldwide Gross)

The film opened ahead of the Valentine’s Day weekend and saw a massive surge on Saturday. Below is the detailed day-wise performance:

DayCollection (Net)Growth/Drop (%)
Friday (Day 1)₹9.01 crore
Saturday (Day 2)₹14.50 crore+61%
Sunday (Day 3)₹11.00 crore-24% (Ind vs Pak impact)
Monday (Day 4)₹4.75 crore-57%
Tuesday (Day 5)₹5.10 crore+7.3%
TOTAL₹44.36 crore

The film’s worldwide gross has now surpassed ₹62.5 crore, with international markets contributing a healthy ₹15 crore to the kitty.

O Romeo currently dominates the screens, outperforming other February releases like Tu Yaa Main (starring Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav) and Aamir Khan’s production Happy Patel. However, the upcoming weekend will be the real test for the film as new releases like Do Deewane Seher Mein and Taapsee Pannu’s Assi enter the fray.

The film has also faced unique hurdles, including a court-mandated suspension of ratings on BookMyShow to prevent organized “review bombing.” Despite this, the gritty underworld romance—based on Hussain Zaidi’s Mafia Queens of Mumbai—remains the top choice for theater-goers.

Key Highlights:

  • Milestone Achieved: O Romeo has crossed the ₹40 crore mark domestically on Day 5, earning ₹5.10 crore on its first Tuesday.
  • Beats Rangoon: The film has officially surpassed the lifetime collection of Shahid Kapoor’s previous Vishal Bhardwaj collaboration, Rangoon.
  • Global Footprint: The worldwide gross collection stands at over ₹62.5 crore, with significant contributions from overseas markets.
  • Steady Hold: Despite a weekend dip due to the Ind vs Pak match, the film showed growth on Tuesday, indicating strong audience interest in the “vibe-coding” gangster romance.
