In a significant leadership reshuffle, travel-tech major EaseMyTrip has announced that its founder, Nishant Pitti, has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). The appointment, effective immediately, is subject to shareholder approval and marks a strategic move to steer the company into its next phase of growth.
Nishant Pitti’s elevation follows the resignation of his brother, Prashant Pitti, from the role of Managing Director. While Prashant has stepped down to focus on mentoring young startups and pursuing other entrepreneurial and public-good initiatives, he will continue to remain a promoter and long-term shareholder of the company.
This is the second major leadership change at EaseMyTrip this year. Earlier, Nishant Pitti had stepped down from the CEO role for “personal reasons,” with his brother, Rikant Pittie, taking over the position. Nishant’s return to a top leadership position is seen as a move to strengthen the company’s vision and strategic direction amidst a competitive market.
In a statement, Nishant Pitti expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “Stepping into the role of Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) gives me an opportunity to work even more closely with our people to unlock new opportunities, scale new heights, and continue building a travel-tech brand that India can be proud of.” He also highlighted the company’s ambitious plan to expand beyond its core travel business, evolving into a “diversified ecosystem of businesses and services.”
The company’s board also reaffirmed the promoters’ commitment to aligning with shareholder interests, reiterating that no further promoter shares will be sold and that all promoters will continue to draw zero salary. This move is designed to instill confidence in stakeholders and demonstrate the promoters’ long-term belief in the company’s growth trajectory.
