Netflix India has officially greenlit a second season for the hit family comedy “Single Papa”, headlined by Kunal Kemmu. The renewal comes on the heels of the show’s massive success, having trended in the Global Top 10 for two weeks and securing the No. 1 spot in India shortly after its December 12 debut.
The series, which blends “unprecedented kalesh” (chaos) with heartwarming moments, follows Gaurav Gehlot, a self-confessed man-child who impulsively adopts a baby named Amul immediately following his divorce. The Gehlot family, stunned by the decision of a man who still misplaces his own socks, must now navigate the highs and lows of unconventional parenting.
Executive Producer Shashank Khaitan revealed that the series was always envisioned as a long-form narrative. “Seeing audiences connect so deeply with baby Amul, Gaurav, and the Gehlots reinforces our belief that their story was never meant to end with a single chapter,” Khaitan stated. He added that Season 2 will delve deeper into the family’s relationships and challenges with added warmth.
Beyond the laughs, “Single Papa” has been praised for its sensitive handling of modern themes. Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, noted that the show has sparked vital conversations around adoption and love. Notably, the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) acknowledged the series for its responsible and ethical portrayal of the adoption process.

- Manoj Pahwa and Ayesha Raza as the parents
- Neha Dhupia as the “woke” social worker
- Dayanand Shetty in a breakout role as a muscular but gentle “manny” (male nanny)

Created and co-produced by Ishita Moitra and Neeraj Udhwani, the series is a collaboration between Juggernaut Productions (Aditya Pittie and Samar Khan) and Netflix. The direction is shared by Shashank Khaitan, Hitesh Kewalya, and Neeraj Udhwani, ensuring a seamless blend of humor and emotional depth.
While a specific release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, Netflix confirmed that the Gehlot family’s journey is “far from over.”
