MEASAT Global Berhad (MEASAT), the Malaysia-based satellite solutions provider, has signed a business collaboration agreement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) to expand its satellite services in the Indian market. The agreement, formalized during the Bengaluru Space Expo 2024, will see MEASAT leveraging NSIL’s resources to enhance satellite capacity for broadcasters, DTH operators, and other services in India.
NSIL, a government-owned enterprise under India’s Department of Space, plays a key role in managing communication satellites and providing services to both government and private sectors. This partnership marks a significant step for MEASAT, allowing it to offer its MEASAT-3b Ku-Band for domestic services and MEASAT-3d Global C-Band for regional connectivity, ensuring reliable coverage across India and neighboring regions.
MEASAT Chief Commercial Officer, Ganendra Selvaraj, expressed enthusiasm for the strengthened relationship, noting the potential for replicating the success of their CONNECTme satellite broadband service, which has addressed connectivity gaps in rural Malaysia, within India.
