Maruti Suzuki Reports Marginal Sales Increase in February 2025 Amid Export Decline

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) recorded a slight uptick in total sales for February 2025, reaching 199,400 units, a 1% increase from the 197,471 units sold in February 2024. This growth was primarily driven by the domestic market, which saw a 3.5% rise in sales, totaling 174,379 units compared to 168,544 units in the previous year.

The domestic passenger vehicle segment experienced marginal growth, with 160,791 units sold in February 2025, up from 160,271 units in February 2024. This segment encompasses various models, including hatchbacks, sedans, and utility vehicles. Notably, the compact and utility vehicle categories contributed significantly to this increase, offsetting declines in the mini-segment and light commercial vehicles.

In contrast to the domestic market, MSIL’s export figures declined by 14%, with 25,021 units shipped overseas in February 2025, down from 28,927 units in the same month last year.

When compared to January 2025, which saw total sales of 212,251 units—the company’s highest-ever monthly sales volume—February’s figures represent a decrease. January’s domestic sales were 177,688 units, with exports at 27,100 units.

Following the announcement of the February sales figures, Maruti Suzuki’s share price experienced a 3.5% decline, closing at ₹11,946. On the trading day, a total of 605,149 shares were exchanged. Market analysts have provided mixed recommendations, with 39 buys, 5 holds, and 3 sells.

In the broader automotive industry, competitors like Mahindra reported a significant 19% year-over-year growth in domestic passenger vehicle sales for February 2025, totaling 52,386 units, including domestic and export figures.Toyota India also saw a 13% rise in sales during the same period.
