Manoj Bajpayee’s latest film, The Fable, directed by Raam Reddy of Thithi fame, has been selected to compete at the SEMINCI Film Festival in Valladolid, Spain. The prestigious festival, scheduled to run from October 18 to 26, will showcase The Fable as the sole Indian entry in the Meeting Point Official Selection Competition.

This competition section is known for presenting breakthrough films with the potential to be the season’s revelations. Following its premiere at the 74th Berlin Film Festival, The Fable will now contend for various awards at SEMINCI, including the Meeting Point Best Feature Award, the Special Jury Award, and the ‘Pilar Miró’ Award for Best New Director. Other prominent films in the competition include Blue Sun Palace by Constance Tsang and Caught by the Tides by Jia Zhangke.

The Fable follows Dev, portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee, as he investigates the mysterious appearance of burnt trees in his orchards, leading to deeper personal and familial revelations. Set against the backdrop of the Indian Himalayas, the film delves into themes of identity, nature, and self-discovery. Despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, Bajpayee described the filming experience as “miraculous and magical.”

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Deepak Dobriyal, Priyanka Bose, Tillotama Shome, and newcomer Hiral Sidhu.
