In a thrilling announcement at Netflix’s Tudum fan event, the streaming giant officially confirmed that global music icon and actress Lady Gaga will be joining the cast of the highly anticipated Wednesday Season 2. Gaga is set to play Rosaline Rotwood, a new and mysterious teacher at Nevermore Academy.
The confirmation came during a theatrical presentation where Gaga made a dramatic entrance from a coffin labeled “Here lies the monster queen.” Backed by dancers reminiscent of the Addams Family, she performed “Zombieboy” from her new album Mayhem, followed by a segment featuring The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck” (which famously soundtracked Wednesday’s viral dance in Season 1), and concluded with “Abracadabra” before returning to her coffin.
Lady Gaga’s involvement has been a popular fan theory ever since Wednesday’s dance went viral on TikTok, often set to a remix of Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary,” which the artist herself later participated in. Her casting as a teacher at Nevermore seems a fitting full-circle moment for the series.
The Tudum event also treated fans to the first six minutes of Wednesday Season 2. The opening scene plunges viewers straight into a dark mystery, with Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) trapped in a serial killer’s basement, recounting the events that led to her capture. The killer is played by Haley Joel Osment, who makes a guest appearance.
Season 2 of Wednesday will be released in two parts: Part 1 on August 6, 2025, and Part 2 on September 3, 2025, totaling eight episodes. Alongside Jenna Ortega, returning cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley Addams), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), and others. New series regulars joining the mayhem include Steve Buscemi as the new principal, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor. Guest stars also include Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Thandiwe Newton, Frances O’Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo.
Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have teased a darker and more complex journey for Wednesday in the upcoming season as she navigates family, friends, new mysteries, and old adversaries at Nevermore.
