India to Lead Global Shift in AI-Powered Entertainment at Delhi Summit

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) fundamentally redefines the global creative landscape, New Delhi is set to host a high-level pre-summit event titled ‘India, AI, and the Next Global Shift: Who Owns the Future of Entertainment?’ on January 13, 2026. This conclave serves as the official curtain-raiser for the prestigious AI Impact Summit 2026, positioning India as a central player in the future of digital storytelling and creative rights.

The half-day event will take place from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the FICCI Conference Room, Federation House. It will gather an elite group of policymakers, legal experts, and industry titans to discuss how India can evolve into a global hub for AI-enabled production while ensuring a fair environment for creators.

Dr. Ashish S. Kulkarni, Founder of Punnaryug Artvision, will open the sessions, setting the stage for critical debates on the ownership of AI-generated content and the ethics of creative automation.

The first major session, ‘Policy That Performs: Unlocking AI’s Creative Potential,’ chaired by James Cheatley of the Motion Picture Association, will tackle the “legal frontier” of AI. Key topics include:

  • Copyright and Ownership: Who owns the art created by a machine?
  • Training Data Ethics: Ensuring fair remuneration and attribution for the human work used to train AI models.
  • Global Competitiveness: Crafting regulations that encourage innovation without compromising the safety of India’s vast creative workforce.

Distinguished speakers like Dr. G.R. Raghavender and Avinash Pandey will provide insights into India’s evolving regulatory roadmap.

The second panel, chaired by Vivan Sharan of Koan Advisory, will pivot to the practical applications of AI. Industry leaders from Netflix, JioStar, and Abundantia Entertainment will examine how AI is already optimizing:

  • Production Workflows: Using AI in scriptwriting, music composition, and animation.
  • VFX and Distribution: Moving India up the global value curve by integrating high-end AI tools in post-production.
  • Competitiveness: How Indian studios can use AI to deliver world-class content at scale.

By bringing these critical conversations to the forefront, the New Delhi pre-summit aims to bridge the gap between technological possibility and responsible policy before the main AI Impact Summit in February.

Key Highlights:

  • Strategic Event: New Delhi hosts a pre-summit on Jan 13, 2026, to discuss India’s role in the AI-driven global entertainment shift.
  • Policy Focus: Experts will debate copyright, data attribution, and creator rights to build a sustainable regulatory framework.
  • Industry Integration: Leaders from Netflix and JioStar will explore how AI transforms workflows in scriptwriting, VFX, and animation.
  • Lead-up to 2026 Summit: This meet sets the agenda for the upcoming global AI Impact Summit 2026, focusing on “AI for All.”
