Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 Clinches ‘Best Free Publication in the World’ at Prestigious Gourmand Awards, Marks Historic Win for India

The Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 (GFTR) has achieved a monumental feat on the global stage, winning the coveted award for ‘Best Free Publication in the World’ at the esteemed World Gourmand Awards. The accolade was presented during the Cascais World Food Summit in Portugal, marking a first-of-its-kind triumph for India at this globally inclusive publishing competition, often dubbed the “Oscars of cookbooks and food media.”

The announcement, made on stage by Edouard Cointreau, President and Founder of the Gourmand Awards, at the Estoril Congress Centre, highlighted GFTR’s exceptional quality and precision. Cointreau extended “warmest congratulations to Godrej for producing what stands as the most precise food report in the world.” He further praised the report’s evolution since its inception in 2018, recognizing it as a “trusted and visionary platform that captures the pulse of the food industry with remarkable clarity.”

Conceptualized by Godrej Vikhroli Cucina, the culinary-owned media property of Godrej Industries Group, the Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 delves deep into India’s evolving food and beverage landscape. It is meticulously crafted in collaboration with a vast network of over 2,000 experts and thought leaders, including renowned chefs, food bloggers, nutritionists, and entrepreneurs. This collaborative effort ensures that the report serves as an indispensable resource, fostering meaningful dialogue, anticipating key shifts, and actively shaping the future of food in India and beyond.

Tanya Dubash, Executive Director and Chief Brand Officer, Godrej Industries Group, expressed immense pride in the recognition. “Over the past seven years, this report has evolved into more than just a forecast. It has become a cultural lens, one that captures how India eats, feels, and evolves through food,” Dubash stated. She added that the GFTR has now transformed into a “handbook for the industry, a strategic framework through which new products, menus, and food narratives are being shaped.” The 2024 edition, themed ‘Provenance’, explored the deep cultural and geographical roots that define Indian cuisine, spotlighting trends from the mainstreaming of Korean cuisine to the resurgence of millets. Dubash also hinted at future editions exploring wider culinary horizons, including everyday Indian kitchens and emerging domains like pet food.

Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal, Curating Editor of the report and Managing Director of Perfect Bite Consulting, shared the personal significance of this win. “This recognition is deeply personal for me and the incredible team behind the Godrej Food Trends Report,” she said. “It’s a journey rooted in culture and curiosity, and to see it honoured on a global stage is not just a proud moment for us, but a celebration of India’s growing presence in the global food dialogue.”

This accolade for the Godrej Food Trends Report 2024 marks a significant milestone for Indian culinary thought leadership on the global stage, placing it alongside other recent international achievements for Indian food, such as Chef Vijay Kumar’s James Beard Award for Semma in New York and a new Michelin Star for Tresind. This recognition powerfully reinforces the value of research-led food discourse and compelling storytelling from India.
