Devika Prabhu Exits Disney Star After 16 Years Amid Executive Reshuffle

Devika Prabhu, the Business Head for Kids and Infotainment at Disney & Star India, has decided to leave the company after an impressive 16-year tenure. This move comes as part of a broader executive reshuffle amid Disney Star’s strategic merger with Reliance Industries. The merger will result in the formation of a new entity, Jio Star, bringing together Viacom18 and Star India under Reliance’s ownership.

Prabhu joined Disney in 2008 as Associate Director of Programming and Acquisitions for Kids Channels, where she quickly advanced, significantly contributing to the programming and growth of National Geographic and Disney Kids Network in India. By 2020, she rose to the role of Vice President and Business Head for Kids, Youth, and Infotainment, where she played a key role in shaping creative strategies and driving channel expansion. Before her time at Disney, Prabhu had over seven years of experience at Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), where she contributed to strategic planning efforts.

Prabhu’s departure marks the end of an era at Disney Star, which is now undergoing significant restructuring as part of its merger with Reliance.
