The renowned Indian satirist and humorist Cyrus Broacha has made a comeback to television with his new show, ‘Newscaustic – Let’s Roast with Cyrus Broacha,’ airing on News9, the English news channel of TV9 Network. Broacha, widely considered a pioneer of spoof-based news in India, is set to deliver his trademark irreverent and sharp commentary on the week’s biggest headlines.
The show, which premiered last Friday, covers a wide range of topics, including current affairs, politics, entertainment, and global stories, all delivered with Broacha’s unique wit. The launch of ‘Newscaustic‘ is a strategic move by TV9 Network to make news more engaging and accessible to audiences through a format that blends satire with a fresh perspective.
In a statement, Broacha commented on the blurring lines between serious news and entertainment, saying, “Nobody knows if News is serious or not anymore, and it’s not my fault, and that makes me do ‘Newscaustic.’ So, please check it out on News9!” The show’s episodes will air weekly, with the initial telecast on Fridays at 11 p.m., followed by repeat telecasts on Saturdays and Sundays.
To further connect with his audience, Broacha will also host an on-ground edition of ‘Newscaustic’ at the Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Bandra, Mumbai, on October 4. Tickets for the 500-seat venue start at ₹499, offering fans a unique opportunity to experience his humor live and up close.
