Prime Video has officially announced that its highly anticipated Hindi psychological crime thriller, ‘Daldal’, will premiere globally on January 30, 2026. Headlining the series is Bhumi Satish Pednekar, who steps into the role of a gritty law enforcement officer, supported by a talented cast including Samara Tijori and Aditya Rawal. The Amazon Original is set to stream in India and across 240 countries and territories.

Based on Vish Dhamija’s bestselling novel Bhendi Bazaar, the series follows DCP Rita Ferreira (Pednekar), a newly appointed senior officer in the Mumbai Crime Branch. The narrative plunges Rita into a high-stakes hunt for a cold-blooded killer whose crimes are marked by grotesque, unsettling signatures.

The investigation serves as a backdrop to Rita’s internal battle. Haunted by unresolved trauma and deep-seated guilt, she must navigate the brutality of the case while confronting the systemic biases within the police force. The show moves beyond the typical “whodunnit” structure to explore the psychological “why” behind human depravity.

Produced by Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment and created for the screen by Suresh Triveni, the series is directed by Amrit Raj Gupta. The creators have emphasized that Daldal is designed to be a “character-driven” experience rather than a mere spectacle.

“Violence in Daldal is not merely shocking but deliberately lingering,” the creators noted. The atmosphere borders on psychological horror, focusing on the quiet build-up of tension and the exploration of morality and guilt.

The series boasts a robust writing team, including Suresh Triveni, Sreekanth Agneeaswaran, Rohan D’Souza, Priya Saggi, and Hussain Haidry. The soundtrack and atmospheric soundscape are crafted to mirror the unsettling tone of the Bhendi Bazaar underworld.

Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India, stated that the show aims to push the boundaries of the crime genre by blending suspense with emotional vulnerability. Daldal marks a continued successful partnership between Prime Video and Abundantia Entertainment, following hits like Sherni and Jalsa.
