Bharat Pavilion Inaugurated at Cannes Film Festival

The Bharat Pavilion was officially inaugurated at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, marking a significant moment for India’s presence on the global cinematic stage. The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including acclaimed filmmaker and Festival Director of IFFI and NFDC, Shekhar Kapur, veteran actor Anupam Kher, and Anne-Louise Mésadieu, Paris Region elected official and Ambassador for Diplomatic Relations.

The event underscored the deepening ties between Indian cinema and global audiences. Anne-Louise Mésadieu welcomed the Bharat Pavilion to Cannes, expressing admiration for India’s rich cinematic history and its 1 storytelling prowess, emphasizing the importance of cultural bridges. Shekhar Kapur highlighted the transformative power of cinema and India’s growing role as a creative powerhouse. 

A key highlight of the inauguration was the launch of the IFFI 2025 Poster and Trailer. Gautam Bhanot, GM, Film Promotion (NFDC India), stated that the new poster reflects the “convergence of creativity and technology,” signaling India’s readiness to embrace technology in content creation.

The India Film Guide, a comprehensive resource showcasing India’s filmmaking talent, co-production incentives, and filming locations, was also launched, symbolizing India’s openness to global collaboration.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher shared his heartfelt reflections on the journey of Indian cinema and his personal experiences representing India internationally, expressing his joy at being part of the “Mahakumbh of cinema.”

The Bharat Pavilion, organized by NFDC and FICCI under the aegis of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, will serve as a platform for promoting Indian cinema globally, connecting filmmakers, distributors, and audiences.
