Banijay Asia Launches ‘Race to Space Thailand’ to Send First Thai Citizen to Space

Banijay Asia has unveiled a new reality television format in Thailand called Race to Space Thailand, a show designed to select and send the first Thai citizen into space. The project is a collaboration with the Space Exploration & Research Agency (SERA) and is being produced by CreAsia Studio for the streaming service TrueVisions NOW.

Show Details & Partnership

The show is described as a “genre-bending” reality format that combines entertainment with scientific rigor. It aims to democratize space travel by giving an ordinary citizen a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to journey into space. The winner will be awarded a seat aboard a New Shepard spacecraft from Blue Origin. This initiative marks a significant milestone for a Thai citizen, as it will be the first time a person from Thailand has traveled into space as a result of a major public event.

Global Ambition

This project is not confined to Thailand. It is part of a broader global strategy by Banijay Asia, with an India edition already in the works, and plans to expand the format to other Southeast Asian markets. According to Deepak Dhar, Founder and Group CEO of Banijay Asia, this initiative is a source of pride, showcasing how Indian-originated content formats are making a global impact and “shaping new frontiers of storytelling.” The series is set to premiere in Thailand in November 2025, with applications currently open to the public.
