JioStar Takes Strict Legal Action Against Illegal Pay TV Distribution in Haryana

JioStar has initiated firm legal action against an unauthorized cable network operator in Sonepat, Haryana, for the illegal transmission of its encrypted Pay TV channels. This action is part of the company’s intensified, sustained efforts to combat broadcast piracy and safeguard the integrity of India’s pay television ecosystem.

The cable network operator, identified as Noora Cable Network in Sonepat, was found to be distributing JioStar’s broadcast and copyright-protected content in an unencrypted format and without the necessary authorization. This illegal activity constitutes a direct infringement of JioStar’s rights, causing significant revenue loss.

Acting swiftly on a criminal complaint filed by JioStar’s anti-piracy team, the local police registered FIR No. 0435 dated November 20, 2025, under Sections 51, 63, and 65 of the Copyright Act, 1957.

Following the registration of the FIR, law enforcement authorities executed a raid on the operator’s control room. During the operation, they seized infringing equipment and other materials that were being used to facilitate the unauthorized distribution of the channels.

Investigations are currently underway to trace the full chain of piracy, including the source from which the operator procured the unauthorized feed. Officials have indicated that additional arrests and enforcement actions may follow as the inquiry progresses, suggesting that the piracy network could extend beyond the local operator.

JioStar reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies across India to protect its content rights and uphold the interests of its legitimate partners and subscribers. By pursuing strict legal accountability, the company reinforces the crucial importance of respecting broadcast rights in the media industry.

This initiative is a crucial component of JioStar’s continuous efforts to curb content piracy across multiple regions in India, including recent crackdowns on major IPTV piracy syndicates.
