Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) arm of Reliance Industries, has officially launched its iconic soft drink brand, Campa, in Sri Lanka. This strategic international expansion is a result of a partnership with Ceylon Cold Stores, a subsidiary of the John Keells Group and the manufacturer of the popular Elephant House brand. The collaboration, announced on Monday, August 11, marks a significant step in RCPL’s plan to expand its consumer brands into key overseas markets.
Campa’s entry into the Sri Lankan market is supported by the robust distribution network and operational scale of Ceylon Cold Stores, a dominant player in the country’s competitive beverage landscape. The initial portfolio for Sri Lanka will feature a range of beverages including Campa Cola, Campa Lemon, Campa Orange, and a new energy drink line comprising Campa NRG Gold Boost and Berry Kik. The company is positioning the products to offer both value and appeal, with a 250 ml bottle priced competitively at Rs 100.
The launch follows RCPL’s acquisition of the heritage Indian brand, Campa, in 2022 and its successful reintroduction to the Indian market in 2023. According to Ketan Mody, Executive Director at Reliance Consumer Products, the company is “investing for the long-term and sees great potential for accelerated growth in the region.” This move builds on a previous partnership between the two companies, which saw the successful launch of Elephant House beverages in the Indian market.
For Ceylon Cold Stores, this alliance not only expands its beverage portfolio but also reinforces its position in the local market. Daminda Gamlath, President of the John Keells Consumer Foods Sector, expressed confidence in leveraging their market expertise to establish Campa in Sri Lanka, “just as it has been in India for generations.” The launch of Campa is another example of Reliance’s aggressive FMCG strategy, which has seen it partner with former Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan for the “Spinner” sports drink and report significant revenue growth in FY25, with both Campa and its “Independence” brand each crossing ₹1,000 crore in sales.
