BMW Group India has announced its strongest ever half-yearly performance, recording its highest-ever car deliveries in the first half of 2025. The company clocked a remarkable 10% growth in sales, showcasing its continued dominance and strategic positioning in the Indian luxury automotive market despite a challenging environment. Between January and June 2025, BMW Group India sold a total of 7,774 BMW and MINI cars, alongside 2,569 BMW Motorrad motorcycles.
Electric Vehicles (EVs) Lead the Charge with Explosive Growth:
A standout highlight of H1 2025 is the phenomenal surge in Electric Vehicle sales. BMW Group India has maintained its leadership in the luxury EV segment for the third consecutive year, registering an astonishing 234% year-on-year growth in EV sales. A total of 1,322 BMW and MINI electric vehicles were sold in the first half of the year, demonstrating a robust adoption of sustainable mobility solutions within the luxury segment. EVs now represent a significant 18% share of BMW Group India’s total car sales, underscoring the success of their electrification strategy.
The BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase emerged as the highest-selling electric car during this period, closely followed by the flagship BMW i7. BMW Group India currently offers a diverse portfolio of six electric cars (BMW i7, BMW iX, BMW i5, BMW i4, BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, MINI Countryman E) and two electric scooters (BMW CE 04 and BMW CE 02), providing a comprehensive range of electric mobility options for discerning customers. To further support EV adoption, the company has rolled out initiatives such as BMW Destination Charging, Smart E-Routing, and Charging Concierge, complemented by complimentary Wallbox chargers and 24×7 access to its fast-charging dealership network across the country.
Long Wheelbase Models Drive Luxury Segment Expansion:
Long wheelbase BMW models have been a significant growth driver, experiencing a massive 159% increase in sales in H1 2025. These models, including the BMW 7 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 3 Series, and the electric BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase, now account for a substantial 47% share of total BMW Group India sales. This indicates a strong consumer preference for enhanced comfort and performance offered by these extended variants.
The BMW 5 Series was the highest-selling BMW sedan in H1 2025, capturing close to a 20% share in sales, while the BMW 3 Series maintained its class-leading position in the Indian premium sedan segment.
