Aaj Tak Maintains Top Spot in Hindi News Genre, Driven by Prime Time Revamp and “Operation Sindoor” Coverage

Aaj Tak has once again secured its leadership position in the Hindi news genre, as per the latest BARC ratings for Week 21, 2025. The channel recorded an impressive Gross AMA of 1,06,202, capturing a 13.3 percent market share (HSM | 15+ | 24 Hrs | Gross AMA’000), narrowly surpassing its closest competitor, News18 India, which had 1,05,147 AMA with a 13.1 percent share. This reaffirmation of dominance is based on a competitive analysis across 14 Hindi news channels.

According to a press note issued by the channel, Aaj Tak’s continued strong performance is significantly attributed to its highly praised coverage of “Operation Sindoor” last month. The channel’s comprehensive and uninterrupted reporting during the critical days of this high-stakes operation reportedly drew record-breaking viewership, reinforcing its standing in both rolled and unrolled BARC metrics during Weeks 18 and 19.

A key factor in Aaj Tak’s consistent leadership, the channel notes, is its revamped prime time strategy. By introducing an all-new team of dynamic anchors and a fresh programming lineup, Aaj Tak has created a distinct advantage in the crucial prime time slot. This strategic overhaul has not only deepened the content but also enhanced the channel’s connection with audiences across different regions.

Beyond traditional television, Aaj Tak also achieved a significant digital milestone during the “Operation Sindoor” coverage on May 8, hitting a peak of 2 million concurrent viewers on YouTube. This achievement underscores the channel’s strong presence and dominance in the rapidly growing digital news space.

With ongoing investments in fast-paced journalism and tech-forward storytelling, Aaj Tak continues to be a formidable force in India’s highly competitive Hindi news landscape.
