Vishal Chinchankar Steps Down Amidst Industry Buzz

Vishal Chinchankar, the Chief Executive Officer of Madison Digital and Alpha, has resigned from his position, sources have confirmed. This development occurs amidst significant discussions surrounding a potential stake sale in Madison World and recent client shifts for the agency.

Chinchankar, a veteran with over 25 years of experience in the digital marketing space, had been leading Madison Digital and Alpha since May 2017. His career spans roles at The Indian Express, Investment Research & Information Services, Mediaturf Worldwide, Mindshare Interaction (India & Singapore), and Reliance Digital TV, where he served as VP – Digital Media & Head of VAS for DTH. Prior to his tenure at Madison, he was also the CEO of WPP’s martech agency, Prodigi, and the Digital Head at MEC India.

His departure coincides with reports of Madison World potentially selling a 70 percent stake, with major global communication networks and private equity firms reportedly in the fray. Names like Accenture and Stagwell Inc. have been mentioned in industry circles, with the deal potentially valuing Madison World at around ₹1,000 crore.

Adding to the backdrop of this leadership change, Madison World has recently seen some key client movements. McDonald’s India (South and West) concluded its two-decade-long partnership with Madison, appointing Starcom India as its new media agency. Earlier in the year, Essencemediacom secured the media mandate for Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), taking over from Madison World effective April 2025.

The exit of a prominent leader like Chinchankar, coupled with potential ownership changes and client transitions, signals a period of significant transformation for Madison World and its digital arms. The industry will be watching closely to see the future direction of the agency.
